“As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another”     Proverbs 27:17

The new year has just started and already I am rearranging my calendar as things are changing.  I think we have all heard the phrase, “the only thing that is constant is change”.  Even COVID seems to change regularly and give us more to worry about.  How do we go forward with courage amid all this uncertainty and change?

We are going to need each other.  The strength we have in Christ is this beautiful gift called the church, the community of faith.  The scripture is full of words proclaiming our power, strength, and dependency on each other.  “A cord of three strands is not easily broken”; “one person sharpens another”, and so many more.

We are made for each other; we are made for community.  Yet relationships and working together can be extremely difficult.  2022 promises to be a difficult year.  A good year yes, but difficult.  In order to move forward with the work of the Kingdom we are going to need each other.  The church is going to need you!

Together we make each other better, sharper, stronger.  There is a lot we need to build back after the last two years and there is also much to build new.  I truly believe there are opportunities before us that we don’t even see yet.  Let us pray we are alert to the movement of the Holy Spirit that we do not miss them.

We need each other!  The Spirit of God brings us together for a purpose: to sharpen and strengthen one another.

Blessings in the New Year,

Pastor Rafe
