Grace, peace, and warm Christmas greetings to you and your loved ones in the
name of Jesus.
Advent is a singing season. Whether in the streets, at the mall, at work, or in the
church, the world is filled with song. Scripture reminds us that God inhabits the
praises of God’s people (Psalm 22:3). The Virgin Mary sings. The priest Zechariah
sings. The angels of God sing. And the psalmist declares, “Let everything that has
breath praise the Lord” (Psalm 150:6).
This past Sunday, the New Horizon Choir lifted their voices in praise—oh, how
we were blessed. The Strings also played beautifully during worship, adding depth
and reverence to our celebration. Last night, The Learning Center warmed our
hearts as the church was filled with voices singing Gloria in excelsis Deo. I know
these angelic songs pleased God’s heart. The Bell Ensemble, together with the
Strings, also brought residents at one of our care facilities before God’s throne of
grace. It was truly melodious.
Tonight, the Strings and Bells will play at the Southwest Regional Library,
sharing the joy of the season with hundreds of people from surrounding
communities who may not yet know us. Come out and support them as they
represent New Horizon and lift high the name of Christ.
We warmly invite you to worship with us this Sunday and on Christmas Eve. Let
each one invite one, and together let us fill the sanctuary in honor of Jesus Christ
during this holy Advent and Christmas season.
I, too, have a song of gratitude. After only two of six rounds of chemotherapy,
my grandson’s PET scan shows no sign of cancer in his body. Like Mary, I sing, “My
soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior.”
Jesus is the greatest gift of Christmas, and New Horizon loves Him deeply.
May the joy, hope, and peace of Christ fill your hearts as we continue our
Advent journey together.
As we prepare to enter the new year, what shall we carry with us? What truly
brings God joy?
Love and Towel (St. John 13:1-5),
