Greetings, dear friends in Christ,
Grace and peace to you in the Name that is above every name—Jesus, the Christ.
As we journey together through this most sacred of weeks, the question before us is both ancient and ever-present: Who stayed with Jesus at the cross? And why? Who stays with Him today? And why?
Holy Week calls us into deep reflection. This is truly the week of the Passion—of Jesus’ suffering, His love poured out, His death. Fully human, fully divine, Jesus bridges the divide between heaven and earth. As 2 Corinthians 5:19 says, “God was reconciling the world to Himself in Christ.” That reconciliation is still unfolding today, and we are part of it.
Today, God offers us the most precious gift: eternal life in Christ Jesus. Jesus did it all—for us. That’s why we can sing with full hearts: “Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine! Oh, what a foretaste of glory divine.” So let us choose to remain at the foot of the cross—not just as spectators, but as companions on this holy road.
Yes, darkness has its time—but only for a time. The truth of our faith is this: suffering is real. Crosses are heavy. Crucifixions—both literal and spiritual—still happen. We face adversity, grief, and pain so deep that we, like Jesus, may cry out, “Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?”—“My God, my God, why have You forsaken me?”
But even in those cries, God has not left us. God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.
Our reality is resurrection. And resurrection is God’s loud declaration that suffering will not have the final word. As Romans 8:18 reminds us, “The sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.” Glory is coming. Eternity is sure. And through it all, God can still be trusted.
Even now, we live the crucified and resurrected life—this is and has always been God’s plan.
As we continue through the rest of this Holy Week, we invite you to join us in making it deeply meaningful. If you are fasting with us today, lift up our church in prayer—pray for those who need God’s healing, God’s strength, God’s peace.
Maundy Thursday will be an unforgettable moment: the choir, Holy Communion, the washing of hands and feet, heartfelt prayers, and the sacred symbolism of the altar being stripped. Come and relive it with us.
Who stays with Jesus at the cross? I do. And so do you.
Let’s walk the extra mile together—invite a friend. The cross is not the end; it is the doorway to glory.
