“Iron sharpens iron, and one person sharpens another.” Prov. 27:17
We need each other to grow in faith. In healthy community relationships we make each other better. We certainly feel better when we are in a group full of energy. We felt this last Sunday on the Easter worship celebrations. People were joyful, we shared in communion, and we felt the movement of the spirit.
We need each other to grow in faith. This means so much more than just a happy crowd on Sunday. We need to work with each other in mission and serve together toward a common goal. We need to join with each other in prayer and study the scriptures together. On our worst days we need the comfort of another’s presence and on our best days we need to share with others.
One person sharpens another. We need each other to hold us accountable. We need the relationships that speak truth to us even when we don’t want to hear it. We need others to push us and teach us and others need us to share our gifts to bring the best out of them.
This is what the church is all about, one person sharpening another. We make each other better. This happens is the blessed community of faith we call church. I hope you had a great spiritual experience this past Sunday. Easter is not over as the resurrected Christ is with us, leading us to the next faithful step in ministry. We do this together.
Blessings this Easter season,
Pastor Rafe
