Message from One Board, Given from the pulpit on Nov 30th

Your One Board would like to briefly address the Nov 23rd service.

This is a place where all are welcome, and all should feel safe. Rest assured that safety is priority number one for the leadership. At our last formal meeting, we discussed this very important topic and are taking steps to implement new safety protocols that focus on deterrence, prevention, and of course rapid response when necessary.

However, we should all agree that safety starts with an implied promise to one another that when we worship in the house of our Lord, that we always show respect for one another. This is a diverse church and while we may have different views on politics, culture, ethics, and morals our fellowship exists because we also have a lot in common. It is important that we all remember that we come together each week for worship with full hearts, gratitude, and respect one another. We all believe in the teachings of Jesus Christ and that we must always strive to be good Christians, at home, in the community, and of course, here amongst one another.

The person responsible for the outburst last week has reached out to several church elders and church leaders to apologize for interrupting the service and for his role in causing others to fear for their safety.

It is the leadership’s hope that everyone learns a little something from what happened and that we all focus on moving forward with the understanding that when we enter the Lord’s house, we do so with an implied promise that we will always be respectful to each other. We should also expect those worshiping with us to be respectful and cautious not to take actions that could make others feel unsafe.
