Dear Beloved Community,
What a glorious celebration we shared this past Sunday! What a powerful way to begin the Lord’s month of June 2025—with the baptism of a newborn, Pastor Lisa’s retirement celebration, Holy Communion, and a joyful feast around the table. The different meals were delicious. Surely, Jesus is smiling upon us. Thank you for being such a loving, faithful, and welcoming church family. There is a fresh wind of the Spirit among us and a Christlike glow on each face—I know that is the presence of the Lord in our midst.
As I write to you this morning from Moffitt Hospital, enroute to Lakeland for Annual Conference, I am filled with both peace and awe. I was blessed to spend the early morning with my eldest daughter Ty—sharing prayer and Holy Communion together before her first chemo session. The Lord is indeed faithful. We continue to trust God every step of the way. Surrendering all means just that—A L L; especially when nothing make sense to our human mind. And we are reminded that the same power that raised Christ from the dead lives in you and in me (Romans 8:11; Ephesians 1:19–20). What a marvelous truth to carry in our hearts!
Today, I am again amazed by the words of 1 John 4:17: “In this world we are like Christ.” Imagine that—we are called to be like Christ in this world, right here, right now, every single day. What does that mean for us? For me, it means showing up and be present—in homes, in hospital rooms, in prayer circles, in everyday conversations—bearing witness to the love and presence of Jesus. This past week, I’ve been blessed to visit with many of you, share the stories of Jesus, break bread with the food insecure and send support to the marginalized overseas. I have not ceased to pray without ceasing—for my family, for you, for our neighbors, and for the world. It means meeting with those God sends our way—people who come not to be served, but to serve. That, my friends, is the essence of discipleship, and it’s worth the journey.
I am both honored and humbled to be reappointed to New Horizon for another year, beginning July 1st. Each Sunday, I come to worship expectant—and I know many of you do too. I never leave disappointed. The testimonies shared by Mr. Chuck Berning and Mrs. Loretta Stringham were deeply moving and divinely timed. Together, we felt it: “Surely the presence of the Lord is in this place.” And what a joy it was to witness the vibrant closing of the year at our Learning Center, especially celebrating the excitement of the little ones graduating from Pre-K—an extraordinary gift!
It is truly a privilege to serve God by serving you—to love each of you unconditionally and faithfully. Indeed, in this world, we are like Jesus. Will you please remember to pray for your Pastor? Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. Amen.
