Registration Available for ERT (Emergency Response Team) Basic Training at NH Saturday, November 12

We will host training in our sanctuary on Saturday, November 12, 8:00 am-4:00 pm. An Early Response Team (ERT) is a self-contained team that enters a disaster zone at the invitation of local emergency management officials. ERTs provide emergency repairs and/or assistance to help people be safe, sanitary and secure until insurance and other help are available. United Methodist ERTs offer a Christian presence and are trained to provide various types of physical, emotional and spiritual assistance to disaster survivors. Teams are registered with the Disaster Recovery Ministry of the Florida Conference and Disaster Recovery coordinates team placement with emergency management to get help where it is needed most after a disaster. Our teams are trained in a number of areas including cleaning out flood-damaged homes, removing debris, how to tarp a roof, handle a chain saw and just as important spiritual and emotional care of the victims. Participants learn the basics of disaster response and how to work effectively with survivors and others on the response team. All participants are background checked and receive an identification badge showing their affiliation with UMCOR and the Florida Conference of The United Methodist Church. Please contact the church office to receive further information. 954.434.7400 or click to register:
