Rev. Jacqui Jones

Senor Pastor

Biography:

On July 1, 2022 the Rev. Jacqui Jones became Senior Pastor of New Horizon UMC. Pastor Jacqui came to New Horizon from her home country of South Africa where she has served in ordained ministry for over two decades. For 18 years Jacqui has pastored a congregation she founded, Gracepoint Church, in Johannesburg. Currently she is serving both the church and acting as Superintendent Minister of the Fourways Circuit (similar to a DS). She is experienced in planting a new church and building a church building and is now transitioning that church to new leadership while she makes a big life transition of her own to the U.S.

Jacqui writes, “I have been privileged to be a church planter and team leader in building churches. I pastor a growing, diverse congregation. Ministry has developed for me by establishing ancient Christian practices and exploring innovative methods of our Christian faith that serve families through engaging worship and community outreach programs for transformed Christian expressions of living faith in the 21st Century.”

When asked what she is passionate about, she writes, “I am passionate about the Church. I have loved ministering in changing and challenging contexts, even discovering what it means for the Church to minister through the Covid-19 Pandemic. I believe in the presence of the local Church as a place of healing and wholeness. The Church is in a new era, in all contexts throughout the world. The Covid Pandemic has presented us as the Body of Christ with an opportunity for new possibilities and radical rediscovery of our presence to a broken and hurting world, a time of new wine, for new wineskins.”

Jacqui’s gifts are worship leadership, innovative ministries and strategic thinking. She has two grown children, Rebekah and Daniel, and has two sisters who live in the Atlanta area. She is delighted to be appointed to serve New Horizon!
