Dear New Horizon Family,
I greet you on God’s love and grace and ask that you pray with me for the Florida Conference 2023; please find a brief. Note from Bishop Tom Berlin explaining the focus for this year’s Conference.
‘Abound in Hope,” is based on the blessing of the Apostle Paul in Romans 15:13, “May the God of 8 hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you may abound in hope by the 9 power of the Holy Spirit.” 10 11
We serve a God of hope, whose demonstration of new life in the resurrection of Jesus 12 Christ guides our faith and beliefs. The resurrection of Christ happened after a time of suffering and death, which gives us the ability to have hope in times of adversity and struggle. This Annual Conference is an opportunity for clergy and lay members to begin to dream about the new United Methodist Church that will emerge in the years ahead. The Florida Conference established four commitments that continue to inform our ministry: vital and sustainable local churches and fresh expressions, the journey toward antiracism as an expression of discipleship and sanctification, the health and resilience of clergy and spiritual leaders, and what it means to #BeUMC as the continuing United Methodist Church in a season of change.’ Bishop Berlin
When we gather in all our different ways as the Church of Christ, the possibilities for ministry and life are present. Hope is present because we are a people of Hope. Looking forward to seeing you on Sunday as we keep exploring together the move of the Holy Spirit that draws us to be witnesses of Hope in our time.
Much love Jacqui
