Dear New Horizon Family!
A very Blessed new year to you and your family. As the New Year unfolds and we wait for all that 2023 will bring. I bring before you the prayer that John Wesley used after adapting it from his family’s Puritan Tradition. We pray this as a statement of faith and mission. This prayer helps us live out the Jesus of Life. I remember the first time I prayed this prayer, I was 18 years old, in my first year of University- College. It changed the trajectory of my life’s purpose as it brought me profound hope in the deeply challenging days of the Apartheid era in South Africa. As you read this prayer today, may Hope arise in your faith as we discover All that we face this year is with God. May the gift of our past and the promise of our future be guided in God’s deep love. As Dr. Martin Luther King reminds us ” We must accept finite disappointment, but never lose infinite Hope.” May this prayer bring you HOPE!
“I am no longer my own, but thine. Put me to what thou wilt, rank me with whom thou wilt.
Put me to doing, put me to suffering. Let me be employed by thee or laid aside for thee,
exalted for thee or brought low for thee. Let me be full, let me be empty.
Let me have all things, let me have nothing. I freely and heartily yield all things
to thy pleasure and disposal. And now, O glorious and blessed God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,
thou art mine, and I am thine. So be it.”
Looking forward to seeing you on Sunday, my Mom is visiting and loving South Florida.
Much love Jacqui
