Dear beloved friends of Jesus and friends of mine,
What a journey it has been at our church! We have spent 5 weeks in the “Becoming An Altogether Christian” series and celebrated 45 years of ministry at New Horizon.
Now we are praying, “What’s Next?” For greater things are yet to be done. As Luke 10:2 reminds us, “The harvest is plentiful and the workers are few and Jesus tells his disciples to ‘Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest that he may send laborers in his harvest.'”
I invite you to pause and join me in praying the attached prayer written for our church by Certified Lay Minister Glory Tharp.
Prayer of the People: Gracious and eternal God, our Father, we gather in humility and gratitude as we celebrate forty-five years of Your faithfulness to this church. You have been our foundation, our shelter, our strength, and our guide. Through seasons of joy and seasons of challenge, You have never failed us. We thank You for the founders, pastors, leaders, teachers, musicians, ushers, deacons, trustees, volunteers, families, and faithful members whose prayers, labor, giving, and love helped build this ministry.
Bless those who planted seeds of faith, those who watered them with service, and those who continue to serve with willing hearts today. Lord, we pray for this congregation. Strengthen our unity, deepen our faith, renew our love, and fill us with compassion for one another and for the community around us. Let this church continue to be a place of worship, healing, teaching, prayer, fellowship, and service.
Guide our leaders with wisdom, humility, courage, and vision. Raise up new servants for the work of ministry. Bless our children, youth, adults, and elders, and let every generation know the power of Your grace and the joy of walking with Christ. As we honor these forty-five years, we do not only look back; we also look forward. Lead us into a future filled with purpose, obedience, and hope. May our witness shine brightly, may our worship be sincere, may our service be faithful, and may our lives bring glory to Your name. Lord, we know that the story of this congregation is ultimately not about us- it is about YOU, You have been our shepherd, our strength, our provider, and our guide, through seasons of difficulty, you have never left us.
Thank You, Lord, for forty-five years of existence, endurance, blessing, and grace. Keep us rooted in Your Word, united in Your Spirit, and committed to Your mission. We dedicate this anniversary celebration, this church, and ourselves to You. In the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord, we pray. Amen.
