A Note from Our Pastor
New Horizon, we are grateful to journey into this new year of ministry together with you. As many of you know, April 19 marked Announcement Sunday in the United Methodist Church. I remain here with you for another year—deeply thankful to God for a loving church family that is growing in the faith of Jesus Christ.
We give thanks for the powerful proclamation of God’s Word these past two Sundays by Pastor Rose and Kerry Newness. This Sunday will be something special. While I was eager to preach, I could not resist the joy and enthusiasm of our young people, who will be leading us in worship. I encourage you—come prayerfully and support our youth. When we invest in them, we are shaping disciples, nurturing leaders, and participating in God’s ongoing transformation of the world. Their voices matter, their faith is alive, and their leadership is a blessing to the body of Christ.
A heartfelt word of appreciation to Peggy Goodman, who so faithfully ensures the altar of the Lord reflects beauty and reverence. Throughout Lent and Easter, her gifts helped create a worship space that truly lifted our hearts—thank you, Peggy.
Please continue to keep our church in prayer as we seek God’s direction for our life together. Please also keep before God’s throne of grace those among us who are grieving, those facing health challenges, those who are homebound, and those within our reach who are in need of care and compassion. The Lord is ever near to each and every one of our beloved. A special prayer this week for Bill and Kim Scott, and Vida Gordon.
I’m also looking forward to Coffee for a Cause this Saturday—a wonderful opportunity for connection and impact. There is so much happening at New Horizon, and I encourage you to read your bulletin and find a place to connect. Ministry is something we do together.
I also ask for your prayers as I participate in the Conference Pulpit Project, preparing Wesleyan-rooted sermons for our churches. Please lift up the Conference staff and all clergy involved in this Holy Spirit-led work.
I look forward to seeing you Sunday. If you haven’t invited someone yet, now is the time—personal invitation is powerful. And don’t forget to stop by the Mission Building for fellowship after service. Childcare will be available during that time.
Hebrews 10:24–25 remind us to: “Consider how to provoke one another to love and good deeds, not neglecting to meet together… but encouraging one another.” So, I pray with you:
Lord, unite us in love, strengthen our faith, and guide us as we grow together in Your purpose. Amen
Love and Towel (St. John 13:1-5),
