Good morning, friends of Jesus and friends of mine,
Greetings from Chapel Hill, North Carolina, where the weather is beautiful, though there’s still a
little ice on the ground. It’s 54° this morning — one of those in-between days that reminds us
seasons don’t change all at once. I am grateful to be here with colleagues, engaging in thoughtful
and sometimes challenging conversations about change and conflict — in our homes, in our
churches, and certainly in our world. The discussions are stretching, honest, and deeply needed.
It is a gift to gather with our connectional sisters and brothers in the faith as we seek wisdom for
such a time as this.
As we move into the season of Lent, a time of reflection and spiritual alignment, consider
holding these questions before God:
How can I be an agent of peace in spaces that feel tense or uncertain?
Lent reminds us that transformation often begins quietly — in prayer, humility, and surrender —
long before it becomes visible in the world around us.
My grandson Wayne is home from the hospital. He is doing well by God’s mercy and grace. He
has one more round of chemotherapy left, after which he will be back in the hospital for another
week. My daughter is improving as well. God still heals stage four cancer, according to His will.
We are not called to navigate difficult seasons alone. God is present in the tension, the questions,
and even the discomfort that surrounds us. The Lord shapes faithful hearts in moments just like
these.
Scripture of Encouragement
“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding
fault, and it will be given to you.” — James 1:5
May you walk in peace, wisdom, and courage this week.
Where might God be inviting me to respond with grace instead of defensiveness when conflict
arises?
What change might the Holy Spirit be working in me before I try to change others?
Love and Towel (St. John 13:1-5),
